Hackathon Theme

Keeping in line with the G20 meet of 2023 under India’s presidency, EDII has launched a Hackathon to align student thoughts and action plan to work towards the ‘Sustainability Development Agenda’ of G20 as part of their business idea.

Development Working Group (DWG) of G20  has been acting as the custodian of G20 ‘development agenda’ since its inception in 2010.

After the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Goals (of UN)in 2015, DWG has played an important role in supporting in both driving the G20 Sustainable Development agenda and in working with other work streams to better understand the sustainable development intersections of G20 actions with efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda.

Students from any stream of studies in their graduation(Preferably final year) are invited to send their business ideas that are focused on to create solutions to real problems facing, customers, society, industry, industry sector, government functionaries or global issues.

The idea or existing business/start up should have some link with sustainable development goals of the UN.

Out of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) the following goals have been identified to be key drivers of entrepreneurial ideas and can be focused while identifying solution to problems:

GOAL 2: Zero Hunger                                                   GOAL 3: Good Health and Well-being

GOAL 4: Quality Education                                          GOAL 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy                        GOAL 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Other goals can be added to the list by participants based on their ideas

Sustainable Development

The concept of “sustainable development” is hinged on three interdependent and mutually reinforcing pillars: economic development, social development, and environmental protection. It calls on human societies to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.

Sustainable development in India encompasses a variety of development schemes in social, cleantech (clean energy, clean water and sustainable agriculture) and human resources segments, having caught the attention of both Central and State governments and also public and private sectors
