Scheme for State Govt

Government of Gujarat has developed a policy for providing assistance to Startups/ Innovation. Under this scheme, any individual/ group of individuals having innovative idea/ Concept will be eligible and/ or Universities/ education institutions, Incubation Centre/ PSUs/ R&D Institutions/ Private and other establishments will be eligible as an institution to support and mentor to innovators as approved by Committee.

The state is currently in the exercise of preparing the State Biotechnology Policy, which shall be in conformity with the spirit and strategies of the National Biotechnology strategy/blueprint.

The state public policy is reflection of the state’s resolve towards adoption of Biotechnology as a tool towards socio-economic development of the subjects of the state and shall act as the guiding document in defining the priorities as also the strategy, though not the implementation methodology.

The strategy shall cover various aspects including development of infrastructure, promoting research, encouraging technology development, Supporting Biotechnology education/ human resource development, boosting biotechnopreneurship and biotechnology business, building public consensus towards the potentials and applications of biotechnology, reassuring biotechnology awareness, etc.

To create a vibrant start-up culture where in ideas materialize into products, entrepreneurs are mentored, businesses are incubated and product or process innovation is facilitated to become a business of global scale to contribute to economic prosperity of the state and to generation of employment, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat has launched a dedicated policy for Start-ups under Electronics & IT/ITeS Start-up Policy for the State of Gujarat (2016-21).
